Our postdoc Frank presented his modelling work on the stop-signal task at the NEAT conference with a brilliant flash talk and a poster!

This week, Lilian gave a talk at the Reinforcement Learning and Decision Making seminar in the Computational Neuroscience department of the MPI for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen, and later joined her former colleagues at ETH Zurich for the yearly Computational Psychiatry Course where she talked about Predictive Coding.

Escha Sarwar presented the results of her BSc thesis titled “The Impact of NMDA Antagonism on Mismatch Negativity” - well done Escha and all the best for your Master’s program!

Our joint work with colleagues at Oxford featured at the Focussed Ultrasound Neuromodulation (FUN) conference: Maja presented our project investigating the role of pgACC in cost-benefit decisions, and Miruna presented the latest fMRI results from our BLA-TUS project.

Lilian was awarded first prize of the Hans Mühlenhoff Award for Good Academic Teaching, recognising her teaching at the Institute of Cognitive Science in the 2025-2026 academic year. This annual teaching prize, awarded by Osnabrück University and the Hans Mühlenhoff Foundation, highlights the importance of good teaching and recognises faculty members who are particularly committed to teaching. Faculty members are nominated by students, with prize winners selected by a student jury together with Osnabrück University’s standing working group on teaching.

Lilian was interviewed by local, regional, and national media outlets about our Wellcome-funded project on repetitive negative thoughts. This included an interview with local radio station os|radio 104.8, an interview with the Norddeutscher Rundfunk, and an article in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

We hosted Dr Dirk Wulff (MPI for Human Development, Berlin) to kick off our new MIND lecture series! Dirk talked about “Clarifying the structure of psychology using LLMs”

Lilian presented our project on RNT at the ‘Wellcome Awardee Convening: applying neuroscience to understand symptoms in anxiety, depression and psychosis’ at the Wellcome Trust in London

Lilian gave a talk at the Center for Adaptive Rationality (ARC) at the MPI for Human Development, Berlin.

Osnabrück University’s press office visited the lab, resulting in an excellent press release.

We gave a tour of our transcranial focused ultrasound system, and discussed the lab’s broader research agenda, with a focus on our Wellcome-funded project on repetitive negative thoughts and our recently-published Neuron paper.

We are excited to welcome two new members to our team. Dr Frank Hezemans joins us as a senior postdoc, and Zakieh Hassanzadeh will join us later this year to start her PhD with us. Welcome, Frank and Zakieh!
